War Photography
Nikša Antonini first reported as a war photojournalist from the battlefield in Slovenia, and later from all parts of Croatia. His photos were published in numerous daily newspapers, and he stood out as one of the best photojournalists of that time. During the Homeland War, his photo reportages were created on the spot and with no preparation, capturing the full gravity of those years. Aside from shots of battlefields, he also documented devastated cities and people’s destinies, thus illustrating all the consequences of war. His war photographs continue to display the same characteristics as those from the period that preceded it, primarily in their precise framing and composition. They prompt reflection on war, which is precisely the role of a photojournalist seeking to present its harsh reality to the public.
